And indeed, Xenoblade Chronicles X takes advantage of this. The GamePad offers games a unique advantage: it can clear stuff off the screen and lend to a more visually appealing, less cluttered and confusing experience. HUDs and maps don’t necessarily need to take up screen space they can be relegated to the touchscreen. The fact that so few JRPGS or even RPGs in general have come to the console is a real pity, because this title proves that the console works brilliantly for this type of game. It surely has been said before, but so much about the console is simply perfect for the genre. I’ve been playing Xenoblade Chronicles X recently, and constantly throughout the experience I cannot help but wonder why more JRPGs have not come to the Wii U.
